Nursing Performance Rate of the Hospital Nurses by the Nursing Intervention Classification

Abstract
This study was conducted, for one month from May 1st to 30th, 1998, with analysis of questioning data to reveal the nursing performance rate by the nursing intervention classification of nurses who work at 5 secondary and tertiary general hospitals in Daegu with object of 331 general nurses. And the results were as follows.
The highest performance rate in 16 nursing areas was bed arrangement and patients-clothes changing(73.7%) pertaining to general performance area followed by prescription(69.2%), measurement and observation(56.2%), sleeping and rest nursing(54.1%) and communication and mental support(53.2%) in highest order. And the selection and participation of recreational activities area(8.2%) was the lowest. The average nursing performance rate was 43% in entire 16 areas.
Dividing performance rate of 128 details in 16 areas by over and below 43% which is the average, 6 items out of 10 were over 43% in respiration nursing and the average was 57.8%. And 4 items out of 7 were over 43%, with the average of 52.6%, in the area of nursing relevant to the nutrition intake.
16 items were over 43%(with the average of 56.3%) in nursing area relevant to excretion and 6 items were over 43%(with the average of 51.7%) in the area of exercises and posture changing. And 2 items were over 43%(63.0%) in the area of sleeping and rest.
All 3 items in the area of bed arrangement and patients-clothes changing were over 43% performance items(with the average of 73.7%) and in the area of body temperature maintenance, items over 43% were 4 out of 6 with the average performance rate of 55.8%. In the area of personal hygienes, 4 items out of 9 were over 43%(with the average of 51.6%) and the 6 items out of 10 were over 43%(with the average of 58.2%) in the safety nursing area.
